Who is expected to participate in the program?
All Executive, Senior and People leaders are expected to participate in the program. This is a major investment in your personal growth as well as WorkSafe's leadership capability. The program represents a commitment to build a consistent understanding and approach to leadership at WorkSafe. It has been designed specifically for our needs and will help us lead our people through this exciting transformation, and deliver on our vision of ' Victorian workers returning home safe everyday'.
What will the program look like?
The Program will consist of a series of workshops and master classes, which will be spread across several months. The program will draw on best-practice learning methodology and be tailored to our specific needs and organisational context. Each level of the leadership program is aligned to a common set of leadership capabilities, meaning Executive Leaders, Senior Leaders and People Leaders will all share in common learning outcomes. Program participants will be provided with a collaborative learning experience that accounts for different learning styles, integrating key principles of adult learning.
What do I need to do to secure my place in the program?
If you are a leader, you will automatically be enrolled in the program. All you need to do is accept the calendar invites you receive – this will secure your place in the program. Senior Leaders will receive their invites in early June, while People Leaders will receive invites in late June or early July. If you don't receive an invitation to attend the program by 8 July 2019, and believe you should be attending, please email leadership@worksafe.vic.gov.au .
When will invites be sent?
Senior Leaders will receive their invites in early June, while People Leaders will receive invites in late June or early July. If you don't receive an invitation to attend the program by this time and believe you should be attending, please email leadership@worksafe.vic.gov.au
I haven't received an invite. What should I do?
Please contact the L&OD team via leadership@worksafe.vic.gov.au
Where is the program going to be held?
We are still finalising the venue details. The SLT will be split into two groups – a Geelong group and a Melbourne group. People Leaders will be allocated to groups in Geelong, Melbourne CBD and Melbourne metro (likely East and North). The venue and location you are allocated to will be outlined in the calendar invites you receive from LearningHub.
Why are the program workshops NOT being held at WorkSafe offices?
Conducting the program away from your regular place of work will enhance your ability to stop, pause and reflect - all critical if you are to get the best from this program.
Why were these dates chosen?
The dates were chosen to apply learning at the right time in light of organisational activities and work around business loading considerations and to ensure an optimal learning experience.
Why was I put into this particular cohort?
As part of the learning experience, leaders have been allocated to different cohorts to provide a mix of representation and build your leadership network. In most instances, your residential suburb (that we've accessed from Aurion) has been used to allocate you to a cohort in a location that is in close proximity to your home address, to minimise the distance you have to travel to attend each workshop.
I have done a leadership program that looks similar in the past - do I have to attend?
Yes, you're required to attend regardless of your prior experience. While we recognise that you may have completed leadership development activities in the past, this program is about getting all of our leaders on the same page and speaking the same leadership language. The program has been designed and tailored specifically to WorkSafe's needs, as we lead our people through the transformation.
I can’t attend one of my scheduled sessions. Can I attend one of the other sessions instead?
The program is designed so that you will work with the same group of leaders throughout. Rather than switch dates for one workshop, it is preferable that we allocate you to a different group entirely. Please contact the L&OD team immediately if you are unable to attend one of your scheduled sessions via leadership@worksafe.vic.gov.au
Will the program be run at a later date so I can attend then instead?
These are the only dates for the program that are currently scheduled. Therefore, we strongly suggest that you make every effort to attend at this time. A record will be kept of leaders who are unable to participate in the program and if further program dates are scheduled, you will be advised at that time.
I have personal commitments which mean I cannot attend the residential component of the program for Senior Leaders, is this ok? Can I opt out of staying overnight?
There will be development activities planned for the evenings of the residential sessions. To avoid missing out on these valuable experiences, we encourage participants to make every effort to attend. If you cannot stay overnight on certain dates, please contact the L&OD team via leadership@worksafe.vic.gov.au as soon as possible.
Will transport to and from the venues be provided by WorkSafe?
Where possible, we have allocated leaders to a venue within close proximity of their home or regular office location. As such, we anticipate that everyone will be able to make their own way to their designated venue. However, if you wish to discuss further, please contact leadership@worksafe.vic.gov.au
I am not a leader - can I participate in this program?
At this stage, the program is only available to existing leaders at WorkSafe. However, we hope to be able to provide leadership development offerings for emerging leaders in the future. Additional learning and development options for all employees are currently being developed by the L&OD team.
Where can I find out more about the program?
Further information will be provided to you in the lead up to your program start date.
